Meta is giving original creators more reach while reducing the visibility of copied and low-value Reels. Its March 2026 update is important for any UK or UAE brand relying on short-form video: authentic production is becoming a distribution advantage, not just a creative preference.
Meta says views and watch time for original Reels on Facebook roughly doubled in the second half of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024. It also clarified that simple changes to somebody else’s content—such as adding borders, captions or changing speed—do not make a post meaningfully original.
What Meta considers original content
Original content is material you filmed or produced, or content that adds substantial new creative value. A founder sharing a real lesson, a hotel showing its guest experience, a property agent explaining a neighbourhood or a clinician answering a common question all have a clear point of view.
Re-uploaded clips, stitched compilations with little commentary and template-heavy posts may be faster to publish, but they are less likely to build a distinctive brand or receive recommendation reach.
Put a recognisable expert on camera
People remember people. Choose a founder, employee, client or credible specialist who can speak naturally. Give them one clear question per video and use prompts rather than a rigid script. The goal is not perfect performance; it is a useful answer delivered with confidence.
Film evidence, not decoration
B-roll should support the claim being made. If a real estate company talks about finish quality, show the detail. If a restaurant discusses craft, film the preparation. If a technology brand promises efficiency, demonstrate the workflow. Specific visual proof holds attention and makes the content genuinely ownable.
Create a repeatable series
Consistency becomes easier when every shoot follows a repeatable structure. Useful formats include “one question in 60 seconds”, project breakdowns, before-and-after stories, expert reactions and client FAQs. Keep the visual identity consistent while changing the substance.
Design for sound-off and sound-on viewing
Use accurate captions, a clear first frame and readable on-screen text. Record clean voice audio and add music only when it supports the pace. Captions improve accessibility and comprehension, while good sound rewards viewers who choose to listen.
Adapt the story for the UK and UAE
The same creative idea can travel, but localisation matters. A UK edit may need different examples, pricing language or seasonal references from a UAE edit. In the Emirates, Arabic subtitles or a fully Arabic version can make the campaign more inclusive. Respect local context instead of treating translation as a final technical step.
Measure signals that lead to business
Views alone can mislead. Track completion rate, saves, shares, profile visits, qualified enquiries and assisted conversions. Review which opening lines hold attention and which topics trigger questions. Feed those insights into the next filming day.
A practical production model
One half-day shoot can produce a hero brand film, four expert answers, several vertical cut-downs, still images and a bank of authentic B-roll. Planning these outputs together keeps quality high and lowers the cost per asset.
The takeaway
Meta’s direction is clear: brands that contribute original value have a better chance of being recommended. The winning response is not to post more copied trends—it is to build a recognisable library of useful, well-produced stories.
